Studio Art: Inspired by Art History
Studio Art: Inspired by Art History is a fun, flexible, multi-level, full-credit studio art course for high school students*. It covers drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, and more!
10 FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES (such as value, lighting, color, and perspective) first provide students with the understanding and skills needed to create any great work of art.
30 PROJECTS then further introduce students to a wide variety of mediums, styles, and approaches. Each is placed in its historical context so students learn from the Masters while simultaneously developing their own unique pieces.
The low-cost supply approach and easy-to-follow instructions make this course great for homeschool families and private schools alike. This is NOT a paint-by-number kind of course! Rather, students are first taught to apply sound artistic principles. Next, they receive encouragement to research and boldly experiment to create personalized works of art.
This large-format (8.5″ x 11″) softcover edition contains 275+ family-friendly images printed with premium color inks across 102 pages for an in-depth yet user-friendly experience.
Studio Art: Inspired by Art History was created by Gina Ferguson Foster, author of The Master and His Apprentices: Art History from a Christian Perspective. As such, this course can be used with or without the full-credit art history textbook (optional). Page numbers indicate where the textbook supplements this course.
* This course has LOTS of FLEXIBILITY and can earn .25 to 1.0 high school elective credit, although younger students can also use the material. We recommend 12+ for primarily self-guided study.
